For this production of The Wizard of Oz I created a wire whisk-collar. We wanted the collar to be strong and unable to be bent out of shape, which led me to use underwires from bras to create a consistent curve, that was sturdy yet flexible.
Process
The underwire was bent at a 90-degree angle at each end to be attached to the wire along the neckline and around the outer edge. It was then secured in place using gaff tape, a strong adhesion method that also covered the potentially pokey edges of the underwire, and finally was wrapped in gold trim.
